Prof. Erhan Erkut
Erhan Erkut received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Bogazici University in 1980 and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1986. Dr. Erkut taught at the University of Alberta School of Business during 1985-2005. During this period he received nine teaching awards, including the INFORMS Teaching of Management Science Practice Award and the 3M Teaching Fellowship, and five practice and service awards from the Canadian Operational Research Society. Dr. Erkut established a Centre for Excellence in Operations to facilitate know-how transfer, and served as the founding editor of the journal INFORMS Transactions in Education.
After returning to Turkey in 2005, he served as Dean of the Business School at Bilkent University (2005-07), the Founding Rector of Ozyegin University (2008-13), and as Vice-Rector of MEF University (2014-). Currently he serves on the boards of three local education associations and works actively to promote skills development for youth and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Gokmen joined the Istanbul Technical University Department of Computer Engineering as an Assistant Professor in 1992. He became an Associate Professor in 1993, and a Professor in 1999. He served as the Dean of ITU’s Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering between 2001 and 2004. He subsequently served as the Department Chair for ITU’s Department of Computer Engineering, in the newly-established Faculty of Computer and Informatics. In 2004, he founded the startup, Divit, Digital Video and Image Technologies, which is the first company established by academics in ARI Teknokent. He joined MEF University in 2014 as the Department Chair for its Department of Computer Engineering. He was appointed the Director of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering of this university.
Prof. Özgür Özlük
Prof. Ozgur Ozluk obtained his Ph.D. in Operations Research from UNC Chapel Hill in 1999. Thereafter, he spent three years in Silicon Valley working for the revenue management division of Manugistics, Inc. He taught courses on Data Analytics at San Francisco State University between 2003 and 2014, in addition to several executive MBA courses and workshops/seminars in companies such as Gap, Banana Republic. In Fall 2014, he founded the Big Data Analytics and Management program at Bahçeşehir University. In Fall 2015, he started a predictive analytics enterprise, Verite Analytics.
Prof. Semra Ağralı
Dr. Semra Ağralı received her B.S. degree from İstanbul Technical University in 2003 and her M.S. degree from Koç University in 2005, both in Industrial Engineering, and her Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Sysems Engineering from University of Florida in 2009. She worked as an assistant professor between 2009 and 2013, and as an associate professor between 2013 and 2016 in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bahçeşehir University. Dr. Ağralı joined the Department of Industrial Engineering at MEF University in July 2016. Her research interests include integer and nonlinear optimization and their applications in energy production and management, supply chain planning, nonlinear knapsack problems, lot-sizing problems and scheduling problems in service industries.
Asst. Prof. Utku Koç
Dr. Utku Koç received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Bilkent University, Turkey in 2003 and 2012, respectively. His Ph.D. is on integration of production, inventory and transportation decision in supply chains. He continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences of Northwestern University, USA, where he worked on parallelization of optimization algorithms. He joined MEF University as an assistant professor in March, 2015. He is a member of INFORMS.
Asst. Prof. Tuna Çakar
Tuna Çakar graduated from Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Program of Sabancı University in 2004. He has worked on the 3-D modelling of proteins with perturbation technique in his undergraduate thesis project. He received his master's degree from Cognitive Science Program at Boğaziçi University in 2009. In his master thesis, he worked on the skin conductance and pulse rate methods in order to understand emotional processes of humans.
Tuna Çakar obtained his Ph.D. from Cognitive Science Program at the Informatics Institute in Middle East Technical University in 2015. In his thesis, he has worked on the identity judgments and he performed several different models including mathematical, neurophysiological (EEG/ERP, optic brain imaging) and biometrics (Eye-tracker) in order to understand the decision-making processes at various levels. Dr. Çakar is currently working on the applied neuroscience field with sector-specific and academic projects. In February 2017, he joined MEF University as an assistant professor.
Sercan Akkaş, Yemek Sepeti
Sercan Akkaş works on user behavior, analytics and conversion optimization. He graduated from Yıldız Technical University Industrial Engineering in 2011. He received his master's degree in 2013 from Istanbul Tecnical University Industrial Engineering - Engineering Management Program. His thesis project is "Factors Affecting The Buying Behaviors Of Private Shopping Clubs Users". He worked in Ziraat Technology, Metglobal. Since 2014, he has been working on analytics and optimization at Yemeksepeti.
Serhat Çevikel, Boğaziçi University
Serhat Çevikel received a B.A. degree in Management from Bogazici University in 1999 and MBA degree from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2009. He worked as a specialist and manager in Dis Investment Research Department between 1998-1999 and Is Investment Corporate Finance Department between 1999-2005. During this time, he participated in many valuation, feasibility, IPO/SPO, strategic restructuring and M&A projects. He coordinated post-privatisation transition projects at Turk Telekom as a Board Advisor between 2005-2009.
While pursuing a Ph.D. in Finance degree at Bogazici University Department of Management, Serhat Cevikel conducts research studies and lectures in topics spanning company valuation, computer programming, management simulation, behavioral finance, algorithmic trading in financial markets and big data analytics.
Dr. Berk Orbay, Algopoly
Berk Orbay received BS in Industrial Engineering in 2008 and MS in Operations Research in 2011 from Middle East Technical University. He got his PhD. from Boğaziçi University in Industrial Engineering in 2016 with his thesis on model selection in financial option pricing. In the professional life, he has experience in public (TBMM), startup (Parlakbirgelecek.com) and research (Boğaziçi University) sectors. Before MEF, he was a gave lectures at Boğaziçi U. and Istanbul Bilgi U. From 2017, he works at Algopoly where he is also a co-founder.
